Day 6 – 15km Training!

My knee felt better after the 4 days rest i gave it and so this week i was eager to get outside and run again!
Yesterday which was monday i was all dressed and ready to go run when Alex announced that the book he had order would arrive that morning at some point & i would have to wait for it! I was a bit grumpy as i was looking forwards to get running again.
So i sat there half the day waiting for his parcel which turned up at lunchtime! which was to late for me to run as i needed to make lunch do my weights & stability ball then went off to work.
So this morning i got up knowing nothing was going to stop me running today lool It was 3c out there so i wrapped up well not wanting to get to cold but knowing at the same time i would soon heat up as i moved.
The plan for today was to do 4 miles but as i got running i thought to hell with it lets do 6! I have only run up to 5 & half miles when training and only do 6 miles when doing my two 10k races so i wanted to get 6 miles into my training!
It rained lightly after 2 miles in but i kept on going down my little park then along the road to the bigger park. My knee felt heavy after 3 miles but not uncomfortable so i carried on. I did add some walking into the running just so the knee wasnt to stressed but it seemed to be fine. (even feels fine now)
I think the weights and stability ball work are really helping me with my stamina because i just kept going and going! There was no negative moment which i sometimes get where i just want to go home. I just wanted to keep on running and i found my running zone really quickly! It was a really enjoyable run.
I got to 4 and half miles and i really needed to pee but i put it to the back of my mind and kept going. When i hit 6 miles i was back in the little park near home so could hurry in to go lol
I really think if i hadnt needed to pee quite so badly then i could have carried on running! Which has never happened to me before! The longest i have run is 10k but i feel like i can run more now lol
My pace was nice anyway i didnt rush it i was intent on doing the miles not the speed.
So i did 6 miles in 1 hour 10 minutes so roughly i would say i did 1 hour of running and 10 minutes of walking which isnt bad at all!
Really need some new running trousers though as mine are baggy now must go find some at some point lol
Knee resting

I was supposed to run thursday but my left knee has been aching so i have decided to rest it for 4 days then start again fresh on monday. I know my knee has been feeling dodgy since my first 10k back in December and doing my next 10k last sunday seems to have made it more unhappy.
So im going to see how it goes on monday, see how it feels and ice it after the run and if its still unhappy i will have to pay the doctor a visit!
One good thing im down to 58kg’s again!! I have been stuck on 59kg’s for 6 months and its good to see it finally shifting lol
I have been doing my weights workout but slacking on the stability ball this week
i need to find my focus again.
I really want to start working out the back of my arms as i still have chicken wings! The top of my arms are looking good with some muscle its just the under part which is letting it down lol
I finally have the registration form printed for the 5k race i want to do and i just need to fill it in and drop it off at the place to be entered. Thats the race you get a medal at the end & its the same day as the RomaOstia HM.
The Rock&Run race im still not sure about but it looks like we might be doing the 7k and apparently if we are doing that one we can register on the day at the race.
Monday the ballots are being drawn for the RPHM so i will see if i have gotten into that or not!
Day 5 – 15k Training

This morning we were out getting more wedding documents sorted out so i didnt get a chance to go out and run! We were both excited to sort out the final piece of what we need here and the next stop for us with the wedding documents is to take them to Tuscany where we will have the event.
Anyway we had a lovely lunch and planned when we would go there.
Then i went home knowing i had some running to do today. I had lost the mood to run when i first got back but i made myself dress in my running clothes and waited for a while before heading out.
Im running to the adjusted plan now so today was 4 miles! After getting my GPS watch on off i went with the sun shining. I got hot pretty quickly as i was wearing my winter top so i need to start wearing my short sleeved ones lol
I actually felt really good running, i kept to my steady pace which i had done in the race with Marina. I ran to the big park and found lots of people walking there dogs and running.
Strangely i didnt have the negative part of my brain telling me to go home or not do all the miles lol i actually found my running zone quite quickly and really enjoyed it. My left knee ached a bit on the last 2 miles but apart from that my body felt fine.
Im suprised how quickly my body recovered since sundays run! but i guess being my second 10k run my body is adjusting to the stress and distance lol
When i got home i discovered a bit on my tummy! which looks suspisicously like a mosquito bite! i know its 13c here in Roma but they shouldnt be active this early?!!
Not sure if we are doing the 14k Rock&run race or if we are just doing the 7k they have, i am letting Marina choose as it will be her second race
Possibilities & plan changes!

This morning i got up with only a small back pain which passed quickly and slightly tired legs from yesterdays 1ok race.
I was still hyped about yesterdays race and actually felt like going out for a run today! But after thinking about it for a while i went for a walk instead to see how my body felt. My knee’s need a rest today for sure and my hips ached a little so i wont run today but i will go out tomorrow morning for a run!
So today its just weights and stability ball cardio and core work out for me
I have been thinking about the possibilities for my future running. If i do the 14km run with Marina next month and it goes ok then thats just 4 miles less than a half marathon! Which could give me the confidence to do the training and just go for it! and do one for sure!
The other thing i have been thinking about its my current training plan which is 15km training plan which is 10 weeks long (the 14km race is in 3 weeks time so i will have run it before completing the training anyway lol)
Im finding it not challenging for my weightloss, the first few weeks i have done have only been 2 or 3 mile runs and im putting on weight because im not out there for long enough. I know your supposed to follow the training plan but i feel i want to skip a few begining weeks as its just not worth doing them. So im thinking of skipping to week 5 which is 4miles, 3 miles, 5 miles then the following weeks get higher.
I think that all in all will be better for me or im going to get bored with all these short runs especially after just completing a 10k race!
And this way i will lose weight rather than gain it lol and im happy to say i lost some belly i had gained since christmas by doing the 10k lol i already feel lighter
So races to sign up for next are Rock&Run 14km, RomaOstia 5k fun run and the Roma fun run which is 4k i think
The Suffolk run i want to do in May emailed me back and told me that there entry form will be on the runners world website end of January so i have that to sort out as well!
Also heres the best photo that i got through the post from the proffessional photo’s place that took the pics of the WeRunRome 10k in Dec 2011. This is the one thats going on my running wall!!

Well this morning i was up at 6.35am to get up have breakfast and a cup of tea before heading out to meet up with my friend Marina for the race! She logged onto MSN while i was munching my toast and we chatted quickly before both getting our running gear on and heading out.
The plan was to meet at the Flaminio metro station barriers at 8.30am then get the train. I turned up early and after waiting 10minutes had to go find a Bar in which i could use the loo! As the nervous peeing had started again lol And always on race day grrrr!
Anyway Marina came a bit later with her husband Cart in tow! We all headed for the train and found a load of other runners waiting aboard it all excited and chatting about the event! Marina looked so nervous bless her and i knew how she felt as it wasnt that long ago i ran my first 10k! But she had an advantage over me as she regulary runs 10k’s on her normal running days!
We reached the station and everyone piled out and on the way out we were given blue plastic water jackets with the race logo on the back! another freebie lol We had already gotten some hand gels, hand cream, a t-shirt & a neck scarf/head scarf thing from the goodie bags we had picked up the day before!
We followed the crowd to the race area and went straight for the porta-loo’s as we both needed a nervous pee lol after talking to several people and hearing the full marathon begin we were finally pointed in the right directions for the start line.
There didnt seem to be any signs pointing in the direction of it and by the time we got there we were right at the back which was good for us anyway!
The music started the man shouted go and off we went! We were at the back end of the racers and soon alot of them were a blur in the distance but we were not last!
I kept pace with Marina who has a lovely pace! one i want to keep to myself when normally running as im way to fast! A couple of times i found myself speeding up and had to slow myself down again!
We listened to our music, sometimes chatted, commented on things or joked around which kept us both going. We saw some proffessional photographers and smiled for them as they took our pics which were nice. My knee started aching half way though and i had back ache i only walked for about 3mins in the entire race as Marina kept me going.
The back ache went numb after 4 and half miles lol
We past a girl who had been one of the fast runners she was on the floor with some ambulance men around her it looked liked she’d collapsed or fallen and hit her head. She was awake but looked in pain poor thing!
The last half a mile Marina speeded up a little as we search for the finish line ahead lol as we saw the finish line Marina burst forward at a sprint and crossed the line before me with a grin on her face and her arms in the air lol So im pretty sure she enjoyed the her first race!
We were given oranges, a yoghurt drink and sweet hot tea afterwards as we went to find mer Husband who had been patiently waiting for us.
We did the whole 10k in 1 hour 17 minutes! which isnt had at all! just 4 minutes slower than my other 10k!
Im very proud of both of us we did so well!
I mentioned the next race for febuary which is a 7km non competitve and a 14km competitive. I said maybe we could do the 7km and Marina looked at me and said lets do the 14km! looool so i think her race addiction might have started today
On another note on friday i recieved some photo’s of me running my first 10k! There are 7 photo’s in all taken my a proffessional photographer! I have to pay 27 euro’s to keep them but they are very worth it!! my first pro race photo’s lol the best ones going on the my race wall lol
Day 4 – 15k Training

Ok so today i really didnt want to go out, it was 2c outside til 11am and i had to have the heating on in the house just to keep warm! So i was more than sure that i wasn’t going to go out and run in that lol
But at 2pm when it felt a tiny bit warmer i suddenly got the urge to just go out and get the run done! After all on the training plan it was only for 2 miles! It wouldnt take long and if i did it then it was done.
So i dressed up in all my winter stuff including my running tights and shorts then off i went. The little park was almost empty everyone was inside in the warm or more likely napping after lunch
The run went well i got that weird ache again just below my knee, i didnt get cramp this time (yay) and im happy that i went out and did it.
2 Miles in 2mins 33 seconds so 2mins walking and 20 minutes 33 seconds of running.
I have been doing the weights still and the cardio stabilityball/abs workout and i ache so much the next day from doing it lol
My next run will be the 10k race on sunday! which me and my friend Marina are very nervous about. The temp seems to have dropped since i signed up and the race is at 10am so we might be running in 2c
But if worse comes to worse and its really awful then we can walk alot off it
Bluurggh Day

Im trying to be good im trying not to have a lazy week but i just dont want to seem to do the cardio workouts i was supposed to do. Im feeling really tired all the time and im due on and have cramps.
The only good thing is i am doing the weights workouts and the stability core workouts. And i am going running tomorrow even if its cold outside lol
I supposed i can take it a little easy this week as i have the 10k on sunday and i shouldnt push myself so i can run it ok
(my excuse anyway lol)
Oooh also a race i enquired about called Rock&Run got back to me they have a non competitve 7km in febuary so i might do that as well
So i will have a 7km & 5km in that month which will be good.
I also did something crazy….theres A Royal Park Half Marathon in London in October and i registered my interested in running it for one of the chairty that takes part. Theres no telling weather i will get in or get picked for it but i think it would be cool as a first Half Marathon to do.
So thats about it at the moment lol being lazy, not sleeping well at night, feeling over tired that sums it up
Day 3 – 15k Training

I actually missed day 3 of the training which was supposed to be 2 miles on saturday but i didnt go in the end lol
So i decided to do Day 3 today which is actually day 4! loool confusing i know
Anyway i decide to run to the bigger park as i had 3 miles today and i also went closer to lunchtime hoping it would be a tiny bit warmer which it was.
I had to do the first mile with only one earphone in as i was running near a road and crossing roads and i wanted to be aware of what was around me.
I did the second mile in the Park but i found this hard going as the path there is made of gravel which im not use to running on and i got that ache again just below my knee. I ended up walking here and there as i just wasnt used to it, i seem to prefer running on tarmac which is what i have so far trained on over the last year.
I got cramp during the last mile which lasted half a mile and wasnt very nice at all in my right side above my ribs! and i was thankful as the last mile was running home again from the park!
So i did 34 mins 33 sec all togeather which was 30mins of running and 4mins 33 seconds of walking!
I have gotten back into doing my Chalean extreme weight workouts which is good! Also i have started a fitness programme called Turbo Jam where you do the different workouts each day for 30 days.
I have been using the stability ball as well as on the same set of workouts they have a workout for core exercises with the ball! And OMG its tough!! i ached for days after doing it! A whole hour using the ball! lol So hopefully this will help to tone me up nicely!
My second 10k is this sunday coming and im very excited about it! Hoping the day will be a bit warmer and sunny which it is alot at the moment!
Day 2 – 15k Training

I really felt in the zone today! I had the same feeling i had when running the race and it was awesome!
I had to go out at 10.45am as it was to cold to go a bit earlier than that and it was still a bit cold when i did run. Thankful i had my cold weather top on which helped alot lol
My only complaint on my run was my left knee which ached again so i will for sure be taking the next 10k race slow and not pushing.
So i did a 2 mile run this morning in 22 mins so 21mins of running and 1 min of walking.
Yesterday i bought some nike shorts in the sales which look nice there black and dark blue and im going to use them over my running tights!
Also i have being doing the Turbo Jam series of workouts, Chalean extreme weights, and stability ball workout. Im really focused on packing in alot for the next 3 months as i want to lose some more weight before the wedding!
I found a Hertiage Coastal run as well in Thorpeness which is the village in the UK we are having our honeymoon! Its on the 6th May which is a sunday and they have a 6 mile race and a half and full marathon! Im going to sign up for the 6 mile race as its multi terran so it should be interesting lol
Day 1 – 15k Training

I had been thinking about running 6 miles this morning instead of sticking to the 15k training plan i was starting. But after seeing it was -3 out there this morning i decided to stick to the plan instead lol
It was pretty cold out there so an easy 2 miles which is Day 1 of the plan didnt seem to bad.
I found that my left knee was aching after the first mile and im wondering if i pushed myself to hard in the 10k i did some weeks back. I did run longer than normal in it and also faster than normal in some parts so i may have made some body parts unhappy lol
Im hoping my knee will be ok for the 10k i have signed up for in 2 weeks time! but we shall see.
Anyway the 2 miles went well, i did 1 and half mins of walking (a little bit more than normal because of knee ache) and 20mins ish of running! I completed it all in 22mins and 47 seconds! which isnt bad i think.
Im really starting to think i might swap my running times to early afternoons as i hate running in the cold and at least it would be a bit warmer then. Then i can go back to running in the mornings when it starts to warm up!
On a different note im going to be getting married in 3 and half months time so am starting to get busy with sorting that out YAY!
And i have timed my 15k training to finish just before the wedding lol and i have already decided to take my running gear on the honeymoon as we will be staying near the Suffolk coast and it would be nice to have some runs across the beach lol
