Road to 1000k Virtual 5k race

A friend of mine recently joined a virtual race online and being curious i decided to have a look to see what it was all about. I have never done a virtual race before but have been quite interested in doing one for the last few months.

I have been getting back into my running and decided this would be a fantastic way to do a race at my own speed, pace and for a very good cause!

The 1000k Virtual 5k is to raise money for charity and was the idea of Emily a lovely runner blogger! This is her blog: http://roadto1000k.blogspot.co.uk/

You have until the end of the year to walk or run the 5km any where, at any time all you have to do is email or post a photo of your phone/watch/parkrun etc or what ever you use to run with the completed distance to her.

Then a lovely medal will be send out to you and they do look like fab medals don’t they? 🙂  10431572_10205420159282481_3404027450535198567_n

I am paying the £6 you need to pay to take part to the paypal account mentioned on her blog tonight or you can donate to her give page https://www.justgiving.com/emilyseyler/

She also has a facebook events page for the race you can join and she’s quite happy to answer questions etc https://www.facebook.com/events/300800403439173/300801770105703/?ref=notif&notif_t=plan_mall_activity

And i am planning to run the 5k while i am in the UK visiting next week as i will have more time with my parents watching Peanut to run.

Also i know it would be easier for Emily to send the medal to a UK address rather than my Rome home. (cheaper as well probably lol)

I have to say im glad i started running some weeks ago as my stamina is back up and im really enjoying running again. So it will be nice to do the 5k run with the family dog in the local park in one day next week on my visit.

Rather than doing it back in Rome in the evening when it’s dark and i don’t have to much time.

And even though it will be tough as i haven’t run that distance in a good two years i will get it done. And afterwards i will take a quick photo of my completed distance on my Garmin watch with my phone and then email it away to Emily.

There’s still time if you want to take part in this wonderful 5k race for charity! And i know Emily would like to reach 200 runners so it would be fantastic for her to reach her goal before the end of the year!

If your interested just join up on the Facebook page i mentioned above and send your £6 donation to take part in this fun virtual run!
